Reshelling a PC

Sometimes a PC case starts to look tired, draws in too much dust or you rearrange you office space and the old case just does not fit. Rather than replace the whole computer you could just have all the components popped in a new case. This is exactly what we did here for a case that needed to be regularly cleaned to keep dust at bay on the front vents - making the case always look a little dirty. It also has an acrylic side panel which is more prone to scratching than glass. The owner was also stepping down to a single 1080 GTX from Dual cards as the single card is still more than capable of everything they run.

The first thing was to strip out the graphics cards, power supply and hard drive cages. This left us with much more room to work on carefully removing the rest of the components.

Once we had stripped all the parts we were able to clean then up and get ready with the new case. The new case is a lot smaller but has a tempered glass side panel which is much less prone to getting scratched.

We removed the surplus HDD cages, got the motherboard and basic cable management set and then popped in the motherboard with RAM and processor still fitted.

From here we were able to fit the power supply back in and start the more involved process or routing all of the power cables.

A quick test to make sure the Graphics Card would fit in without fouling anything in the smaller case.

All that remained was to fit the closed loop water cooler for the CPU, some LED lights and finish of the cable management. Giving us this lovely machine right here. Also a little character hold a set of jumper cables for when the PC needs a push.
